Capital One, Skills Framework App

This exploratory project was created for Capital One, a leading Fortune 500 financial services client, that wanted to build a custom app to support and manage their human resources skills requirements for their Cafés and bank branches, as well as replace a third-party vendor tool.

Launched in September of 2019 by SingleStone Consulting, this $2M project ran over the course of 28 sprints in just over a year. This skills-development app serves 4,071 registered Capital One Café and branch associate users across the United States.

The new UI offers skill growth insights, helping to remove bias in the evaluation of employees, and preparing the organization for innovation and growth through the acquisition of valuable skills.

During an initial 6-week discovery engagement, my role as the lead product design consultant was to perform stakeholder interviews, associate research, key user persona development and journey maps, as well as initial prototypes and badge creation.

Custom badges were digitally illustrated and created to reflect the Capital One digital brand iconography guidelines. Four final badges were designed to incorporate trees, that symbolize the user achieving significant growth and progress against a skill within the app.

A thoughtful marketing rollout plan was also created to drive smooth product adoption with target audiences including a sequence of marketing materials such as training documentation, an animated product tour video and infographics.
